Jakarta, Pintu News – Circle, the financial technology company best known for its stablecoin US Dollar Coin , recently announced a major update to its Paymaster feature. Now, users of traditional wallets known as Externally Owned Accounts (EOA) can use USDC to pay for gas without the need to set up native tokens like Ethereum or Polygon (MATIC). This is a big step that makes it easier for new users in the Web3 world.

EOA Integration: Ease of Transactions across Multiple Blockchains

With support for EOA, users can now perform transactions on the blockchain without any obstacles. Paymaster Circle features have been extended to seven major blockchains, including Ethereum (ETH), Polygon PoS, Arbitrum, Base, OP Mainnet, Avalanche, and Unichain. This means users can enjoy this convenience without being limited by the network they use.

Integration with Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP)-7702 gives EOA wallets additional flexibility. Now, they can group transactions, set permissions, and even operate like a smart contract in a single transaction. It’s like getting increased functionality without having to change the wallet being used.

Circle Expansion: From Middle East to Global Payment Network

Circle is not only focused on developing Paymaster features. They have also secured in-principle approval from the Abu Dhabi Financial Services Regulatory Authority (ADGM), allowing them to operate as a money service provider in the Middle East. The partnership with Hub71, a tech ecosystem in Abu Dhabi, also demonstrates Circle’s commitment to supporting the growth of crypto and fintech startups in the region.

On April 21, 2025, Circle launched Circle Payments Network (CPN), a global payments network that enables instant cross-border transactions using stablecoins such as US Dollar Coin (USDC) and Euro Coin (EURC). This network is not only a means of exchange, but also a hub between banks, institutions, and payment providers, allowing them to connect with each other without waiting days for settlement.

Business Strategy: Rejecting Acquisitions and Opting for IPOs

At the end of April, news broke that Ripple Labs had submitted an acquisition offer for Circle worth between $4 billion and $5 billion. However, this offer was rejected as it was deemed too low. Circle preferred to take the Initial Public Offering (IPO) route in the United States rather than relinquish control of the company. They seem to feel they are in a golden moment and want to maximize growth potential independently.

In addition, Circle also announced a partnership with digital asset storage company Copper. The aim is to expand support for settlement of transactions using USDC through Copper’s ClearLoop system. This allows institutions to trade and settle transactions without having to move assets to an exchange, as everything is done in a secure storage system.

With these innovative steps, Circle continues to strengthen its position as a leader in the crypto industry. The support for EOA and expansion into different regions shows their commitment to making crypto transactions easier and accessible to more people. This is not only a technological advancement, but also a strategic move in expanding their influence in the global market.
