Jakarta, Pintu News – A crypto trader who also creates content on TikTok was reportedly kidnapped in France on Friday and released a day later, when the kidnappers learned that he did not have enough funds to meet their demands.

The kidnappers, who were after a ransom of 50,000 euros in crypto, released the victim after he showed a low balance in his account. This incident further emphasizes the growing trend of crypto-related violence in France, with a growing number of kidnapping cases involving cryptocurrency actors.

Chronology of Kidnapping and Release

On Friday night, the victim, who is a crypto trader and known on TikTok with over 40,000 followers, was kidnapped in the French town of Juvisy-sur-Orge. He was forced into a stolen vehicle by four kidnappers, who then proceeded to beat him.

Despite his distressed state, the victim explained that he did not have enough funds to meet their demands and showed a very low account balance. As a result, the kidnappers finally released him on Saturday after learning that they would not get the money they wanted.

The case is being investigated by the Organized and Special Crimes Division in France, which is currently working to track down the perpetrators. The crypto trader was also granted incapacity benefits from the French government for six days.

Crypto Kidnapping Rate Increases in France

The trend of crypto-related kidnappings in France has seen a significant increase in recent months. This even prompted the French Interior Minister to hold a meeting with crypto entrepreneurs to discuss the growing concerns about security in the sector. In May 2025, there was an attempted kidnapping of the children and grandchildren of Pierre Noizat, founder and CEO of crypto exchange Paymium. Additionally, in the same May, a crypto entrepreneur was also released after being a victim of kidnapping and torture.

In early June 2025, authorities in France reported that several individuals involved in a series of crypto kidnappings had been arrested, and one of the key suspects in the case was found in Morocco. On the other hand, more than 25 people have been charged in relation to a kidnapping in Paris that targeted prominent crypto figures.

French law enforcement continues to track and arrest perpetrators of crypto-related kidnappings. Several individuals involved in these crimes have already been arrested and charged, with efforts intensifying to eradicate crypto-exploiting kidnapping syndicates. On June 4, 2025, one of the main perpetrators in a crypto kidnapping was arrested in Morocco, while by the end of May, 25 people had been charged in relation to a number of kidnappings targeting important figures in the cryptocurrency world.

This event reflects the importance of strengthening security measures in the crypto world, which is increasingly being targeted by crimes related to hard-to-trace digital money. Perpetrators see crypto as an instrument they can utilize to achieve quick profits, despite the enormous risks involved.

Conclusion

The kidnapping of this crypto trader highlights the increasing risks faced by cryptocurrency market participants, especially those involved in content creation or crypto trading activities. Cases like this call for more attention to the importance of protection for individuals involved in these digital industries.

The increasing rate of crimes involving crypto indicates that the crypto world must urgently take concrete steps to improve security for both individuals and the community as a whole.
