Why do some tokenized assets end with “X” and others with “-on”?

Tokens ending with “X” are issued by xStocks/Backed Finance, while tokens ending with “-on” are issued by Ondo. Both represent tokenized exposure to real US stocks and ETFs, but they come from different issuers, legal frameworks, and technical infrastructures.
