Jakarta, Pintu News – Justin Sun, founder of TRON, has filed a lawsuit against Bloomberg in Delaware federal court, accusing the news organization of breaching a promise of confidentiality and planning to publish the full composition of his crypto portfolio.

Information Leakage Case

The lawsuit, filed on August 1 in the United States District Court for the State of Delaware, revealed that Bloomberg attempted to add Sun to its ‘Billionaire Index’, which is a daily ranking of the 500 richest people in the world.

Sun only agreed to provide details of his holdings after Bloomberg provided repeated assurances, both in writing and verbally, that his financial information, particularly his crypto holdings, would remain confidential and only be used to confirm his net worth.

According to Sun, internal messages from Bloomberg show that reporters and editors agreed to restrict access to the figures and remove them after verification.

Sun also reviewed the other profiles in the index and found no precedent for publishing a crypto-by-coin breakdown unless the numbers have been previously published.

Consequences of Publication

The lawsuit claims that Bloomberg’s draft profile, sent to him in late July, included “numerous inaccuracies” along with a detailed list of Sun’s crypto assets per token.

Sun stated that making this information public would violate their agreement and put her at risk, potentially opening the door to hacking, theft, extortion, or even physical harm to her and her family.

On August 2, his lawyers sent a cease and desist letter asking Bloomberg to limit reporting to only overall net worth and broad asset categories. Bloomberg’s news counsel responded that the company intends to publish the detailed breakdown soon.

Sun is now seeking a temporary restraining order, along with preliminary and permanent injunctions, to stop publication. He is also asking the court to award legal costs, accusing Bloomberg of public release of private information and promissory estoppel.
