OKB Explodes to 218% in Mid-August 2025! What Causes the Price Spike?

Jakarta, Pintu News – OKX Exchange’s OKB token scored a spectacular price surge of 218% in a short period of time. OKB’s latest price was recorded at $111.87 or around Rp1,808,361 (exchange rate $1 = Rp16,168), despite recording a daily correction of 3.72%. This makes it one of the most significant price movements among major altcoins in recent weeks.

This surge came amid speculation around a new alt-season fueled by Ethereum strengthening above $4,500. Besides OKB, several other exchange tokens also rose, such as Binance Coin (BNB (up 12%), Hyperliquid , up 19.5%, and Uniswap up 24.15%.

Key Triggers: Token Burn & OKX Ecosystem Update

One of the main factors driving the OKB price surge was OKX’s announcement to conduct a token burn of 65 million OKB. This means a reduction in the maximum supply from the previous 300 million to just 21 million OKB, equaling the fixed supply of Bitcoin .

At the same time, OKX also announced the launch of X Layer-a new blockchain built using CDK technology from Polygon . OKB will be used exclusively as a gas fee on this network, reinforcing its utility value and demand within the OKX ecosystem.

Technical Analysis: Critical Levels to Watch

OKB’s weekly chart shows that the recent price surge validated a new price target around $150 (approx. IDR2.425 million). If the bullish trend continues, the long-term resistance level at $74 (Rp1.196 million) could turn into support.

However, for more conservative investors, the price levels of $65 (Rp1.051 million) and $34 (Rp549 thousand) could be strategic accumulation points. Amidst high volatility in the crypto market, the “buy the dip” approach is still a favorite strategy of many traders.
