Jakarta, Pintu News – Pendle Finance, a decentralized finance protocol known for its fixed yield market, recently launched a new product called Boros. This product enables onchain trading of crypto funding rates.

Launched on Arbitrum, Boros is starting with Bitcoin /Tether and Ethereum /Tether (USDT) funding rates from Binance, and plans to add more pairs and exchanges in the near future.

Introduction to Boros: A Step Forward in DeFi

Boros is designed to allow speculation or hedging against funding rates, which are fees paid or received by traders when holding perpetual futures contracts.

With Boros, users not only pay these fees, but can also trade based on predictions of whether the rate will rise or fall.

Each pool in Boros has an open interest limit of $10 million at launch. This limit will be gradually increased as the system proves stable and secure. This approach demonstrates Pendle’s commitment to security and stability in its product innovation.

Pendle Yield Units: A New Mechanism in DeFi Trading

Boros uses Pendle Yield Units (YUs) to execute trades. For example, one YU-ETH represents the expected yield of 1 ETH of funding value to a set maturity. This is a development of Pendle’s previous concept of Yield Tokens (YTs), but with a focus on funding level exposure.

Users can choose a long position on YU if they expect the funding rate to increase, or a short position if they think the rate will fall. This solution is especially useful for traders who regularly pay funding fees and want to lock in the fees upfront.

Boros Vault: New Features for Market Liquidity

Pendle also introduced a feature called Vault Boros, which allows users to provide liquidity to these markets. In return, they can earn Pendle rewards, trading fees, and benefit from positively implied APR changes.

This not only increases liquidity in the market, but also incentivizes users to actively participate in the Boros ecosystem. With the gradual launch of this product, the Pendle team emphasized on risk management. The new margin system used by Boros requires careful market monitoring, especially in the early days after launch.
