Starting January 1, 2026, Pintu is required to request a tax residency self-declaration from all users. This guide explains what the declaration is, why it’s needed, what information to fill in, and the deadline.
A tax residency self-declaration (self-certification) is a statement you fill out yourself to declare in which country you are a tax resident.
Starting January 1, 2026, Pintu is required by the DGT (Directorate General of Taxes) to request this declaration from all users. This is regulated under PMK 108/2025 (Minister of Finance Regulation No. 108 of 2025) on Technical Guidelines for Access to Financial Information for Tax Purposes.
PMK 108/2025 requires Crypto Asset Service Providers (PJAK), including Pintu, to collect users’ tax data and Relevant Crypto Asset information. This data is reported to the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) every year.
The goal is to ensure tax transparency and prevent cross-border tax evasion.
Tax residency is determined by where you live and your economic activity, not your citizenship. Someone can be an Indonesian citizen but a tax resident in another country — for example, by living and working abroad for more than 183 days in a year, or vice versa.
If you live and work in Indonesia, your tax residency is generally Indonesia.
You need to declare:
If you have more than one tax residency, list all the countries.
For Indonesian citizens: Pintu automatically fills the TIN field with the NIK registered on your account. You don’t need to change anything.
Exception: if you are a wife reporting taxes under your husband’s NPWP, replace the TIN with your husband’s NIK. Also attach your Family Card (Kartu Keluarga) as a supporting document.
You need to complete your tax residency declaration by December 31, 2026 at the latest. Users who haven’t completed it won’t be able to transact on Pintu starting January 1, 2027.
Under PMK 108/2025, if you refuse or don’t fill out the tax data statement, Pintu can’t provide services. This includes opening new accounts or processing new transactions. Completing this declaration is a mandatory requirement to keep using Pintu’s services.
Pintu will only report the tax data you provide, along with your Relevant Crypto Asset information, to the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) of the Republic of Indonesia. This reporting follows the procedures regulated under PMK 108/2025.
