Order Execution Types on Pintu Pro: A Guide to GTC, IOC, FOK, and Post-Only

Pintu Pro offers several order execution methods that determine how your order is processed in the order book. Four methods are available: Good Till Canceled (GTC), Immediate or Cancel (IOC), Fill or Kill (FOK), and Post-Only. Here’s an explanation of each.

1. Good Till Canceled (GTC)

GTC is a limit order execution type that stays active until the order is filled or you cancel it. It’s ideal if you want your order to wait in the order book with no time limit.

2. Immediate or Cancel (IOC)

IOC is a mechanism to buy or sell your entire order as quickly as possible at the best available price. Any unfilled portion of the order is automatically canceled. So, IOC allows partial fills.

3. Fill or Kill (FOK)

FOK is an instruction to buy or sell an asset that must be executed in full and immediately, or not at all. Unlike IOC, FOK does not allow partial fills.

4. Post-Only

Post-Only is a limit order type that adds liquidity to the order book. This order won’t be executed immediately if its price matches an existing ask/bid. This method is ideal if you want to ensure your order enters as a maker.
