Pi Network Moderators Uncover Wallet Involved in Ongoing Token Thefts

Pi Network Moderator Flags Fraudsters’ Wallets

In a recent post on the X platform, a Pi Network moderator highlighted the existence of a suspicious wallet allegedly used by fraudsters. According to the moderator, perpetrators are taking advantage of the moment when a user’s account is unlocked to steal Pi tokens from users who are caught off guard.

After stealing, the perpetrator uses a wallet that systematically divides the stolen funds into several other smaller wallets.

These flagged wallet addresses raise concerns regarding the security of digital assets and demonstrate user vulnerability in a decentralized system. This news comes at a time when Pi Network is stepping up their efforts in implementing security measures to protect its Pioneers.

Pi influencer Woody Lightyear also urged the community to be more vigilant. He re-emphasized the Pi Core Team’s warning about the importance of keeping wallets secure, and warned that phishing scams are still rife.

Lightyear even shared a post showing one of the latest victims.

The Pi Core Team recently rolled out a security update within the Pi app. Users are encouraged to trust only official communications and verify information through the Pi Safety Center. The Safety Center provides step-by-step guidance on protecting assets and is now the project’s primary tool in fighting fraud.

One notable update in Pi Wallet is the introduction of the PassKey option. A screenshot of the update shows this feature located next to the account verification details. PassKey uses device-level authentication, such as biometrics or PIN, to avoid account theft and phishing scams.

With the community still facing a lot of issues with the verification process, this step is considered very important. The launch of PassKey is the team’s latest effort to prevent fraud.

Pi Network Prepares for Second Migration

This security upgrade comes as Pi Network prepares for a possible second phase of balance migration. As previously reported by CoinGape, a Pi moderator had hinted at plans for the next stage of token migration.

The two main unresolved issues that hampered the first migration process for years were referral bonuses and unverified balances. The moderator proposed that the new migration could be a boost for Pioneers as well as encourage active participation in the Pi ecosystem.

Despite the latest developments, the price of the Pi token has not changed significantly. Analysts had expected the price of Pi to increase after the token was listed on Onramp Money, but in fact the price has remained stable.

As of September 8, the price of Pi has only increased by about 1% in the last 24 hours, trading around $0.3468. The token’s low volatility is evident from the narrow daily price movement range, which is between $0.3432 to $0.3488.
