ASTER Crypto Surges 9,900% After Support from Changpeng Zhao (CZ)

On September 20, Zhao revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that Aster had become the second largest holder of BSC-USDT, just below Binance.

Data from Arkham Intelligence shows Aster’s wallet holds $131 million worth of USDT, while Binance’shot wallet takes the top spot with $236 million.

This support significantly increases investor confidence. Zhao’s ongoing relationship with YZi Labs also adds legitimacy to Aster, so that the project is not seen as just another speculative token launch.

From ApolloX to Aster: A Strategic Rebrand

The rise of Aster is not a standalone phenomenon. The project traces its roots back to 2021 with the launch of ApolloX, one of the early generation decentralized derivatives exchanges.

In late 2024, ApolloX merged with Astherus, which led to a full rebrand to Aster.

In the transition, ApolloX’s native token (APX) was exchanged for ASTER at the time of the TGE, giving early backers a huge advantage. To illustrate, blockchain analytics firm Lookonchain noted that an investor who initially held $226,000 worth of APX managed to convert it to over $7.7 million.

Trade Volume and Market Competition

Although still in its early stages, Aster has already been able to secure its position in the decentralized derivatives trading sector.

According to DeFiLlama data, Aster recorded a trading volume of $3.67 billion in the last 24 hours. This figure instantly puts it in the top tier of decentralized derivatives platforms.

However, the competition also looks very fierce. Rival platform Hyperliquid, for example, posted a volume of $12.8 billion in the same period.

Analysts See Further Upside Potential

Despite facing stiff competition, analysts remain optimistic about Aster’s prospects. In a post on X, prominent crypto trader Marcell mentioned that the token’s price has the potential to break the $4 level – which translates to an upside opportunity of about 151% from its current position.
