On March 11, 2024, the price of Pi Network (PI) fell 0.15%, trading around $1.38, while daily trading volume plummeted 46% to $527.7 million. In the last 24 hours (11/3), PI had touched a high of $1.45 and a low of $1.30.

On a weekly basis, Pi Network has lost almost 24% of its value, and since its launch on February 20, the price has dropped by around 19%.

Interestingly, PI seems to be bucking the broader market trend, where most of the major cryptos have experienced deeper declines.

In comparison, Bitcoin (BTC) has dropped nearly 2.3%, with speculation that it could fall to $70K in the near future. Meanwhile, Ethereum (ETH) plummeted by more than 8%, suggesting that investors’ risk appetite is weakening.

Why is Pi Network (PI) Risk Increasing?

Pi Network has been the talk of the town lately, with more and more users getting involved in its ecosystem. In fact, renowned real estate company, Zito Realty LLC, has now started accepting Pi as a payment method, further increasing the market’s confidence in the project.

However, despite the positive developments, many investors are still on a wait-and-see attitude due to the massive token unlock scheduled in the near future.

Based on data from PiScan, an average of 9.05 billion PIs are now released into the market every day, with an equivalent value of $18.11 million per day.

Furthermore, on March 17 and March 21, the number of tokens unlocked will jump dramatically to 23.1 million PI ($46.27 million) and 23.4 million PI ($46.88 million). In the next 30 days, a total of 271.68 million PI worth $543.36 million will be released to the market.

This influx of new supply could significantly increase selling pressure, potentially dropping the PI price below $1. Because of this, many traders are choosing to be cautious and reluctant to invest before the unlock process is complete.

If the selling pressure is too great, it is not impossible for PI prices to break the $1 psychological level and crash deeper.

Can Pi Network Surge in the Near Future?

Despite the short-term challenges, the Pi Network remains a key concern for investors.

One of the factors driving market optimism is speculation regarding a possible listing on Binance, which is increasing. It is worth noting that almost all of the top 10 cryptocurrencies have been listed on leading exchanges such as Binance.

Currently, Pi Coin is ranked 11th by market capitalization. With its growing adoption and growing number of users, many speculate that Binance will soon include this token in its trading list.

Moreover, Binance has previously held a vote regarding the PI listing, where 86% of the votes were in favor of the listing.

If the listing on Binance does happen, the price of Pi Coin could experience a significant spike.
