“We will never be perfect, but we will keep working towards that goal,” Musk added.

An X-user has started comparing content between Grokipedia and Wikipedia. In one example, the article about George Floyd on Grokipedia is said to highlight his past criminal record, while the Wikipedia version emphasizes that he was killed by a white police officer.

The launch of Grokipedia was delayed by a few days as Musk wanted to “purge propaganda” from the platform. After a temporary crash, the site is now back online and running normally.

To date, Grokipedia claims to have over 885,000 articles.

While the technical details regarding its content curation process are still not entirely clear, Grokipedia appears to rely on AI integration that is quite different from Wikipedia. The platform is controlled by Grok AI, X’s proprietary artificial intelligence system, which appears to take the lead in content creation and moderation. In contrast, Wikipedia relies on a combination of volunteer human editors and automated tools.

“Grok has generated about 1 million articles with huge computational processing. You can ask Grok to add, change, or delete articles, and the AI will decide whether or not to do so, and explain why,” Musk wrote on the X platform on Monday.

This statement emphasizes that while the platform is open-source and open to contributions, the ultimate power is still held by AI, unlike Wikipedia which relies on community consensus and voluntary moderation.

Although Musk’s direct criticism is not explicitly mentioned in Grokipedia’s article on “Wikipedia,” the article lists several studies that mention the presence of leftist bias in Wikipedia content.

“Studies analyzing the language and tone of articles reveal deviations from neutrality, with right-leaning political figures and topics more often portrayed negatively than left-leaning figures. This suggests that Wikipedia’s policies do not fully address ideological biases that arise from editor demographics and source selection,” reads the Grokipedia article.

On the other hand, the Wikipedia article on Grokipedia highlights the concern that Grokipedia has a potential bias towards the right or pro-Musk.

“Critics highlight a number of entries that promote extreme right-wing viewpoints or tend to favor Musk’s views,” Wikipedia wrote.

One example of this was when NBC News discovered that the Grokipedia article on Musk did not mention the hand gesture Musk made in January 2025-which many consider a Nazi greeting-while the Wikipedia article lists the incident.

This polemic further shows the difference in approach and ideology between the two platforms-Wikipedia with its open community structure and neutral orientation according to its guidelines, and the AI-controlled Grokipedia with its claim of “truth-seeking” according to Musk and Grok’s standards.
