Bitcoin’s Biggest Risk According to Strategy CEO, Michael Saylor

This proposal, made by anonymous developer Dathon Ohm in late 2025, is often considered a proxy war for Luke Dashjr’s long-held “anti-spam” philosophy. The main client implementing BIP-110 is Bitcoin Knots, which is maintained by the controversial Bitcoin developer. To date, the soft fork has gained support from over 2% of all Bitcoin nodes.

Controversy and Defense

The tension between Saylor and Dashjr increased throughout 2024-2025, especially around MicroStrategy’s launch of “MicroStrategy Orange”, a decentralized identity protocol built directly on top of Bitcoin using Inscriptions. Saylor has defended the right of users to list data (JPEGs, IDs, text) on Bitcoin as long as they pay the necessary fees.

Dashjr has called Inscriptions and Ordinals an “attack” on Bitcoin and pushed for strict code updates. A Dashjr supporter responded to Saylor’s latest post by writing that no one in the Knots/BIP-110 group is an opportunist, as they have nothing to gain from the protocol’s reckless development.

Ossification as a Solution?

On the other hand, there are also those in favor of stopping changes to Bitcoin. “Stop changing Bitcoin. It’s not broken,” said Adam Simecka, founder of Manna. This approach suggests a split in the community on how Bitcoin should evolve in the future. Some argue that further changes will only undermine the fundamental values that have made Bitcoin a leading digital asset.
