Jakarta, Pintu News – A Nevada man was recently sentenced to prison for his involvement in a bank fraud scheme that cost the United States government and several companies millions of dollars. Kyle Eugene Duncan-Carle, aged 41, has confessed to his actions and was sentenced to 72 months in prison.

Case Disclosure

From January to September 2023, Duncan-Carle was involved in stealing checks from the US Treasury that had been addressed to certain individuals or companies. She used the stolen identities to open accounts at credit cooperatives in their names. Once the checks were obtained, Duncan-Carle then deposited the checks into the opened accounts and withdrew the funds for personal gain.

The losses caused by his actions were not only felt by the government, but also by the victimized financial institutions and insurance providers. The total reported losses amounted to $3.49 million, a significant figure in a bank fraud case.

In their fraud operation, Duncan-Carle managed to steal at least eight Ministry of Finance checks totaling $7.97 million. The modus operandi involved opening credit union accounts using stolen identities, which were then used to deposit the checks.

Once the check was cashed, the funds were immediately withdrawn before the activity was detected by the authorities. This process was repeated several times until Duncan-Carle finally managed to raise millions of dollars before being caught.

After her arrest in Lyon County, Nevada, Duncan-Carle was faced with several serious charges including bank fraud, aggravated identity theft, and receipt of stolen government property. The court decided to sentence her to six years in prison and five years of probation thereafter.

In addition to the prison sentence, he is also required to pay restitution to the victims who have been harmed. It is hoped that this punishment will serve as a strong warning to perpetrators of similar crimes not to repeat such actions that harm many parties.

Conclusion

The case of Kyle Eugene Duncan-Carle is a clear example of the damage that financial crime can cause. Governments and financial institutions are now more vigilant about the potential for similar scams, and the public is urged to always check and protect their personal and financial information.
