Coinbase Shares Jump 8% as CEO Brian Armstrong’s Key Feature Reveal

Jakarta, Pintu News – Coinbase’s (COINX) share price surged nearly 8% after Goldman Sachs upgraded COIN’s rating from neutral to buy, in line with Bitcoin’s (BTC) upward trend.

Citing a Coingape report, COIN’s rise came after CEO Brian Armstrong promoted Coinbase as a unified platform that offers stock trading as well as advantages over traditional brokerage firms.

Coinbase Stock Price Rises 8.22% within 1 Week

The price of Coinbase xStock has climbed by 8.22% over the past week, currently trading at around IDR 4,267,542. Over the 7-day period, the stock hit a low of IDR 3,787,540 and peaked at IDR 4,337,545, reflecting strong upward momentum.

Coinbase now holds a market capitalization of approximately IDR 117.95 billion, with global trading volume in the past 24 hours reaching IDR 188.74 billion, underscoring rising investor interest and activity.

Goldman Sachs Sets Coinbase Stock Price Target at $303

Goldman Sachs upgraded its Coinbase (NASDAQ: COIN) stock rating to buy, as the crypto exchange expands its infrastructure business and launches new products. The upgrade is based on Coinbase’s expansion beyond just crypto trading.

Analyst James Yaro raised his price target for Coinbase shares in the next 12 months from $294 to $303 per share. This target reflects a potential upside of around 34% from the recent low price of around $225.

Goldman calls its outlook a form of “selective optimism” due to intensifying competition, interest rate sensitivity, and regulatory risk. However, analysts see growth potential in tokenization andprediction markets.

In December, Coinbase launched a range of new products, including US stock trading, prediction markets, derivatives and expanded banking services.

Currently, about 40% of Coinbase’s revenue comes from services such as crypto asset custody, staking, and subscription products. Five years ago, these services contributed less than 5% of total revenue.

On Monday (Jan 5), Coinbase’s share price closed up 7.77% to $254.92. The intraday low and high prices were recorded at $246.53 and $258.87 respectively. Trading volume also jumped well above the average of 9 million, as the price of Bitcoin surged past $94,760.

Brian Armstrong Highlights Coinbase’s Advantages Over Traditional Brokers

Coinbase CEO, Brian Armstrong, recently laid out the company’s vision as an “everything exchange” for 2026. This plan focuses on the development of stablecoins, the expansion of exchange services, and their layer-2 network, Base.

In a post on the X platform on January 6, Armstrong shared a number of advantages of transacting COIN stocks through Coinbase compared to a traditional brokerage account.

Armstrong said that “Buying Coinbase stock through Coinbase feels good,” as investors can make all types of trades on one platform.

Some of the other advantages he mentions include access to cryptocurrencies, stocks,prediction markets, and perpetual futures trading.

He also highlighted additional features such as loans with better interest rates, credit cards with higher rewards, and the ability to send money around the world instantly for less than a penny.

Armstrong confirmed that the stock trading feature is still in the process of being rolled out to all users and will soon be available across the United States.

At the time of writing, the price of Bitcoin has risen more than 8% in the past week and stands at $93,816. Trading volumes have also increased, indicating the potential for further gains amid positive market sentiment.
